Could anyone have saved this young man?

I did not know who Aaron Swartz was.  Only after reading about his suicide did I learn a little bit about him from a few online articles.  I often read about these amazing young people and feel a twinge of jealousy, but still,  I admire and respect them and the gifts that God has bestowed upon them.

Aaron Swartz was clearly a complicated person, but still, he was only 26.  26.  That's still young.
Does being young and brilliant mean you couldn't benefit from the advice, counsel and comfort of someone with 50 years of life experience?   This competition and distrust among the ages is stupid and counter productive.

I have also read that this young man may have been depressed and that complicates things.  The discussion about mental illness following the Newtown massacre and our lack of sufficient programs and policies to help these people and our general lack of concern for people with mental illness continues and frankly, is appalling.   Clearly, Swartz and the killer at the Newtown schools took different routes but the end result was the same, the tragic loss of young life.  What a waste.

Here's a link to one story about Aaron Swartz.
